Dancing With the Stars Finale
The best thing about this is…it’s finally over!
After weeks of watching grade B celebs show (or not show) their fancy footwork, the field was narrowed down to Mya, Kelly Osborne and Donny Osmond.
After getting a perfect “10″ the night before, the “Donster” won enough fan support to carry home the winning prize.
Other than Viagra, this must be a huge ego boost for men age 50 and over.
Deadly Women
if you are fascinated by stories about real life crime, then you may find Discovery ID’s Deadly Women interesting.
The weekly series tells about ladies with a penchant for committing heinous murders. They are every bit as cruel, bloodthirsty and perverted as any man, which makes their acts even more shocking.
The episode I watched on Tuesday night featured segments that were particularly disturbing. One was about British murderess Myra Hindley,a secretary who took up with a sadistic boyfriend who had an ambition to be a serial killer. The pair went on murderous sprees and viciously violated and killed several children, even putting at least one of the murders on tape. Another segment was about the women in the Manson cult who slaughtered pregnant actress Sharon Tate and her house guests back in 1969.
While, their actions were definitely disgusting, you have to wonder what it was that compelled them to do such awful things.
Watching this show will make you a lot more cautious in choosing the females in your life, ’cause- who knows?- that sweet thing you met on that online dating site might just have bodies buried in her basement.
The Godfather Marathon (AMC)
American Movie Classics celebrated Thanksgiving by showing all three of the films in The Godfather saga- The Godfather, The Godfather II and The Godfather III throughout the entire day.
Tell me, is there anything more satisfying than biting into a turkey drumstick while watching the heads of the five families being annihilated?
A cinematic treat that I never get tired of watching.
The Next Iron Chef Season 2 Finale (Food Network)
Although I have admittedly referred to more fancy cuisine as “snooty” food, I am not ashamed to admit that I often find myself turning to Iron Chef America, the Food Network show where non-network chefs compete against one of five top chefs- Bobby Flay, Cat Cora, Mario Bateli, Masaharu Morimoto and Michael Symon.
Last year TFN aired The Next Iron Chef. Selected chefs competed to win a spot on Iron Chef America by coming up with unique dishes in a myriad of difficult situations, with one person being eliminated per episode. Last year’s winner was Michael Symon (Great cook, but I despise that horse-neighing laugh of his!).
The show’s popularity resulted in a second season of The Next Iron Chef, where skills and arrogance went head-to-head, until the field came down to two people-the overly frilly Jehangir Mehta and Latin-inspired Jose Garces.
On Sunday night, the very picky judges announced that Garces was the winner, impressed by his safe yet tasty buffalo rib steak, buffalo steak tartare and carnitas tacos dishes.
Michigan vs. Ohio State (ABC)
Even though it technically aired a day before I usually start compiling my “best” list, I still want to include the Michigan vs. Ohio State football game aired last weekend on November 21.
I always look forward to this annual game, since it’s one of the biggest rivalries in college sports. People cry, fight and obsess over this game every year and you’d better be careful what jersey you wear if you plan to pass through either of these states during the football season.
Ohio State trounced Michigan 21-10, becoming the Big 10 champion.
I won’t tell you which team I supported, but I will tell you that I am smiling as I write this.
